Great Self Guided Bike Tour through the Basque Country

Breakfast and departure along the city bike lane to Pasajes San Pedro. We will take the boat to cross in 3 minutes to the other side, where is the medieval town of Pasajes San Juan. Beginning of the ascent to Mount Jaizkibel (450mts.) Downhill to the border town of Hondarribia.

Breakfast. We will cross the border between Spain and France by boat. The Bidasoa estuary forms the border between the two countries. This short journey of about 10 minutes will leave us in the town of Hendaye. We continue along the coast road, called “La corniche”, until we reach the charming French Basque maritime town of Saint Jean de Luz. We will continue along narrow roads into the region, visiting the cozy inland towns of Ascain and Sara, both typical and charming places with beautiful French-Basque style houses. Our final challenge will be to cross the Pyrenees mountains through the Linzoain mountain pass (220mts) and descend to the town of Bera de Bidasoa.

Breakfast. Departure from the Hotel to continue along a quiet “Via Verde del Bidasoa” to the town of Santesteban / Doneztebe, where it is left to continue along the N-170 road in a gentle ascent of 23 km where we will accumulate 675 meters of altitude. Breakfast. Departure from the Rural House by bicycle to enter the province of Guipúzcoa. We will cycle through narrow roads between green valleys through the most unknown region of the Basque Country: the area of ​​Tolosaldea and Régil. We will ascend through the roads of Bidania to finally descend to Loiola and Azpeitia.

Breakfast. Departure from Azpeitia with the option to make this journey along the Via Verde del Urola passing by the Zestona Spa. Finally reaching the coast in the maritime town of Zumaia. Continue along the road facing the sea and through the towns of Getaria, Zarauz and Orio. In this place we begin the ascent of the last mountain pass (Monte Igeldo (200mts) and in a rapid descent appear in the center of the city of San Sebastian (The Tour de France -TDF- rode this last stretch in the year 2023).
