Villanueva a Haro
This day’s morning route is a gentle cycle along very quiet roads that will take you through a landscape where the only visible crops are the immense fields of vines that cover all the hills that surround the road that leads to San Vicente de la Sonsierra, an ancient settlement that dates back to the 9th century. A comfortable and straight road will take you up to the Alto de Ribas del Tesso, on the slopes of the Sierra de Cantabria, for a comfortable descent with views over the region of La Rioja, and on to the town of Labastida and on to Haro, along an asphalted road parallel to the river Ebro. We cross a medieval bridge covered with cobblestones to come out onto a quiet road and reach Haro, the capital of Rioja wine and the site of the old wineries of La Rioja.
Haro a San Millan de la Cogolla

We leave the city of Haro along regional roads and head towards the Demanda mountain range. We reach Santo Domingo de la Calzada and continue cycling to the ancient monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
