Old train way that linked the Navarrese regions of the Baztán Valley and the border town of Irun. Today converted into “Green way” for the exclusive use of pedestrians and cyclists. Ideal for families and adults on a relaxed bike trip. Walk through its deep green valleys connected by illuminated tunnels. Highlighting the old houses in manorial Baztan villages, unique places such as the Señorio de Bértiz or the irrisarri adventure park for the childrens, are attractions that this bike route has.
Ending the route in the historic and maritime town of Hondarribia is the most advisable option.

Pre-stage

Arrival in San Sebastián and you move on our own to the accommodation hotel for the first night. Take free time to visit the old city where you Will find the world famous “Pintxo” or “Tapa”, the unique miniature food based on excellent raw materials. The establisment, also called Bar, have the counters plenty of this excellent and varied food.

STAGE 1

San Sebastián – Etxalar

The family will be transferred by car to the starting point of the route, in the border town of Behobía. The route begins with the bike path that runs parallel to the Bidasoa river until the point where the Via Verde is taken at the Endarlaza bridge (Km 8 of the route of the day). Continuation along Via Verde, crossing the town of Bera de Bidasoa. Arrival at the hotel on the same route.

STAGE 2

Etxalar - Señorio Bertiz

Breakfast and departure from the hotel in Etxalar to immediately take the Via Verde that we will cross by bicycle until almost the end of the route. The towns of Sumbilla and Santesteban are crossed. In this place you take an alternative bicycle route until you reach the Señorío de Bértiz car park, the end of the stage and the route. At this point is where Miguel will be waiting with the van to transfer you back to San Sebastián.

SUMMARY

This is a familiar route. There are two stages * that will take us from the border town of Behobía, starting from the bike path in front of the historic island of the Faisanes , towards the inland of the Valle del Baztán region, north of the province of Navarra. The route runs along the Via Verde del Bidasoa, between the narrow green valley of the same name. The towns that it crosses have charm and stand out the lordship of their emblazoned houses, built in red stone characteristic of the area. We advise finally reach and visiting the Parque Natural del Señorio de Bértiz
